SAFE Holds Awareness Sessions for Displaced Families in Al-Ard Al-Tayyiba Camp, Tel al-Hawa

On Sunday, 30 August 2026, SAFE held awareness sessions for displaced families living in Al-Ard Al-Tayyiba camp in the Tel al-Hawa (Al-Dahdouh) area of Gaza City. The sessions were part of the “Debris Management in the Gaza Strip” programme, which SAFE implements in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme/Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People (UNDP/PAPP), with funding from the Government of Norway.

The sessions aimed at raising displaced families’ awareness of the risks posed by debris and explosive remnants of war, as rubble and destroyed buildings remain widespread in the neighbourhoods where they are sheltering.

Participants learned how to recognise suspicious objects, why they must never approach, touch or tamper with them, and how to report them safely and leave them to the competent authorities, along with safety guidance for time spent near rubble and damaged buildings.

The sessions also introduced the principles of protection from sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA) and the safe, confidential reporting channels available to the community.

The sessions form part of the awareness campaign SAFE is running throughout the project period in displacement camps and residential areas of Gaza City and North Gaza, promoting safe and preventive behaviour among residents and helping protect lives.
