SAFE in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme/Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People (UNDP/PAPP) and funded by the Government of Norway, is implementing a community awareness campaign on the dangers of rubble and explosive remnants of war, as part of the «Rubble Management in the Gaza Strip» program.
The campaign aims to instill safety and security behaviors among residents when dealing with rubble or suspecting the presence of strange objects, thereby contributing to preventing accidents, reducing injuries, and protecting lives, especially with the ongoing rubble removal operations and the increasing return of citizens to their damaged and destroyed areas.
The campaign includes awareness sessions and practical, interactive activities aimed at enabling citizens to identify suspicious objects and informing them about safe reporting mechanisms, while emphasizing the necessity of not approaching, touching, or tampering with them, and leaving their handling to the competent authorities.
The awareness sessions and events will continue throughout the project implementation period, targeting families and residents of areas covered by project activities in Gaza City and its north, with a focus on delivering clear and simplified safety messages suitable for various age groups.
The sessions witnessed remarkable interaction and active participation from parents and children, who showed interest in the provided guidelines and expressed their desire for these activities to continue and expand, due to the essential information they provide, which helps them avoid dangers and protect themselves and their families.
This campaign comes as part of efforts aimed at promoting a culture of preventive behavior and shared community responsibility, and raising awareness of the risks associated with rubble and war remnants, thereby contributing to providing a safer environment and protecting the lives of residents in the Gaza Strip.
